Accellor empowered a medical innovator with data-driven decision making and seamless, secure visibility into their European operations
The executive team at headquarters required greater visibility into supply chain and finance operations in Europe to ensure timely delivery of sensitive medical products, optimize cost management, and maintain compliance with strict regulatory standards across multiple countries. The client managed these operations through a heavily customized instance of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which was increasingly complex to maintain and update due to extensive modifications tailored to specific regional needs. Furthermore, Dynamics NAV was approaching end-of-life support, which presented risks of security vulnerabilities and operational disruptions.
To address these challenges, the client needed to move to a new solution to ensure compliance and continuity of operations. They also sought to upgrade to a more modern, fresh and user-friendly interface to improve user adoption and efficiency. Additionally, leadership required better access to data across European operations—such as inventory levels, shipping statuses, and financial performance metrics—to support more effective decision-making.
Accellor conducted an in-depth assessment of the client’s systems, analyzing both the technical infrastructure and operational workflows. Based on this assessment, Accellor recommended a full migration to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central to replace the client’s existing solution. This new implementation included a database upgrade to ensure compatibility and enhance performance. During the migration, Accellor eliminated legacy customizations that had complicated maintenance and re-implemented essential requirements using the standard capabilities of Business Central wherever possible.
The implemented functionalities included finance, warehousing, inventory, costing, and job management to provide a comprehensive approach to the client’s operational needs. Accellor also delivered complex consignment stock billing & invoicing functionality, ensuring that only consumed products—not all delivered products—were billed and invoiced, along with trunk stock billing and invoicing – both of which were delivered with minimal-development effort. Additionally, the feature for the client to manage stock at the kit and consumable levels was enabled, ensuring precise fulfillment of all surgical requirements.
The solution was rolled out across Italy, Germany, France, and the UK in phases to minimize operational disruption and integrate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, which was essential for maintaining supply chain integrity and efficiency. This phased approach allowed for adjustments and optimizations at each stage, supporting a smooth transition across all locations.
The client realized significant benefits from this implementation, completed within a remarkably short timeframe and showcasing the effectiveness of Accellor’s approach:
